Well I MUST start with the most amazing news first…….
My fabulous cousin Jay won a BRONZE MEDAL at the Paralympics!!!! How great is he?!!!!! He got his medal in 400m Freestyle!!!! I was lucky enough to catch the replay of the race and even though I knew he won (dad gave me the heads up earlier that day!) I was still jumping around and screaming with excitement!!!!! (Pretty sure my house mates think I’m a weirdo!!) Everyone is soooooooooo PROUD OF JAY!!!!!!!
He has been interviewed again by Today Tonight (a follow up from the previous story they did on him before the Paralympics) so you should check that out if you missed it, here’s the link- http://www.todaytonightadelaide.com.au/ and just scroll through the stories on the left until you get to his!!
So now I’ll give you the the update of my past week in London town!!
Sooooooooooo I found out I got the job on Monday and was due to start on Thursday so that meant I had 2 days of freedom left! So I took the opportunity to pretty much just chillax!! Spent lots of time on Skype and called lots of friends and spoke for hours and hours catching up which was excellent!! I was home to receive a very exciting care package from the ever amazing Jessie!! Here’s a photo of what she sent us!! Thanks Jessie- we loved it sooo much!!! We only have a few clinkers left now!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!! Xoxoxo
Kate started work on Monday so she has already worked a full week of work! We actually only work 5 minutes from each other and work the same hours- 9am until 5:30pm so its quite handy really!
Catching the tube in the morning is a task and a half though- the tubes are soooo cramped and squashy and sometimes we need to wait for a couple of tubes to go by before we even get on one, grrrrrrrrrrrr!!!
Friday night we caught up with Jackie and her work people for some drinks. We were home pretty early by about 10ish I think so was a nice and easy night, Kate and I were ready for bed nice and early!!
Saturday we headed to a travel expo which was put on by TNT (which is a magazine that we pick up from the Tube station once a week that is aimed at Aussie, New Zealand and South Africans living and working in London). We found this cute little garden on the way!!
After that we were just wandering around London town and stumbled across a film crew, you know, just making a movie!! Didnt see any famous people we knew but we still thought it was massively cool!!!
Sunday morning we were up early and out the house by 9:30am to go to Brighton for the day! We spent the day with J’s mum; Chris and her partner; John which was great fun! We met Chris and John at Victoria Station and then hopped on the train down to Brighton. It took about an hour to get there, so in total from home it took just over an hour and a half. Brighton is a trendy town on the south coast of England. Being on the coast they had lots of surf shops which I was very happy about seen as I have only found one surf shop in London and it is soooooooooooooo CRAP and expensive!
Walking down the main street and the beach is in view!!
Kate posing, me all touristy!
Ummmmm some freaky dude and his crazy scary puppet!
Here’s some photos of Brighton beach- spectacular view really!

We started the day by looking in some cool art galleries, so many funky little galleries to check out! After that we grabbed some lunch- fish and chips!!! Here’s me, Chris and John with our lunchies!
Then we went for a walk on the pebble stoned beach which to walk on was actually very painful!!
Next it was time for a walk along the Brighton Pier. The Pier is a massive carnival with rides (even a rollercoaster!!!), sideshows, carnival food (fairy floss and hot donuts!), pubs and places to eat! Here’s some photos of the Pier.
You can see the Pier in the distance here...

And here are some photos of us on the Pier!!

We had a wander around the pier, checked out the different amusements. We went into the candy shop and I bought dad (and myself!) some Edinburgh Rock Candy (mmmm so yummy!!!) Then it was time for a drink! So we headed into a pub for a couple of jugs of Pimms! Here’s me and Kate with our adopted mum for the day; Chris enjoying our bevvys!!!

Drinks were followed by some hot donuts, which were damn tasty! Except there was an incident which involved Kate and a giant crazy seagull! So this is how it goes… we were just strolling along the pier enjoying our delicious hot donuts when out of nowhere swoops a massive seagull looking bird. This feral creature just swooped in and pinched Kate’s donut straight from her hands! There were wings flapping and lots of squawking going on. As you can imagine… we freaked out a little bit… well maybe a lot!! Poor Kate was a bit shaken up by the incident and the most upsetting thing was… she lost her delicious donut!!! So to compensate for the loss of the donut, Kate got herself an icecream. We figured it wouldn’t be an easy target like the donut!
Yeah they tell us that now, geeeeeeeeeeez!!

For the rest of the day we wandered around and checked out the little boutiques and shops around Brighton. We wandered past the Royal Pavillion-
And then stumbled across a gourmet festival which was a gold mine!!! Lots of yummy food and drinks to try. We had a taste test of pink cider which was AWFUL!!! Tasted like BBQ sauce!!! YUKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!
By this time it was about 5pm so Chris and John headed back to London but Kate and I decided to stay for dinner. So we wandered back down to the beach and had a drink at Belushis!
And then had some dinner at a pizza and pasta place and then decided it was time to go home! Then we had the 90 minute journey home. I was quite happy writing my postcards on the train (I know I’m a nerd!!!) so the time past quite quickly. By the time we got home it was almost 10pm so as you can imagine a very exhausted Kate and Kelly stumbled into bed!
And now the next working week has begun! This week will be busy- we’re having dinner with Chris and John on Wednesday night before they go home to A town, Thursday Courts and Jazzy arrive in London and on Sunday Manda and J get back to London, so no doubt next week Ill have lots of stories and photos for you! I’m very excited about Manda and J coming as they are gonna stay with me and Kate so it’s gonna be one giant slumber party. I can only have half a day off of work while they’re here but that’s ok, we’ll be able to spend lots of time with them at night anyways!
Missing you all lots and lots!
Love Kel
