Me and Byron had a fly by visit to Dublin for St Patty’s Day!! We were too late to organise to go on a tour so we decided that we just wanted to be there for it no matter how we got there or how long we were there for. So we left on Monday at 6pm and got a coach there!! Ahhhhhhhhh!! It wasn’t actually too bad! We drove through the night- went on a ferry for 4 hours (which was sooo cool- like the cruise ship we went on over new years- 07/08- games, cabins, movies!) and finally arrived in Dublin at 6am!
When we got there we went and had a yummy breakfast of bacon and eggs! Then went for a wander around Dublin so Byron could see bits and pieces of it- I know my way around pretty well as I went there in October with Jackie and Kate. Byron thought it was deploreable that I was walking around London with my trackies, socks and thongs on still- the comfy clothes I wore on the bus! So he just had to take a photo of me wearing this in the streets of Dublin and threatened he'd put it on facebook! Haha as if I would care!!! Silly billy! (Britts- socks and havies just for you!)
Byron...
The streets of Dublin being set up for the St Pat's Day parade!
Byron and Molly Malone... he was quite impressed that her 'rack' was on show like that! Haha!
After our wander around we decided it was time to get changed into our green clothes and get into the spirit of St Pat's Day! As you can seee... Byron opted for green skinny jeans, dear oh dear that boy worries me!
Some more random statues we cam across... they are everywhere!
A squinty Byza and the River Liffy...
The sign on Temple Bar at Temple Bar!
Byron caught slightly unaware as I try to catch him eating icecream at 9am! Hehehe! Oh and we both bought one of those hates as well! Well I bought mine first and Byza copied me :)
Hehe i just thought it was a bit cute and funny!
Then we headed into the Information Centre so we could change some pounds over to euros and look what I found! More Kells memorabilia! Dublin just loves Kellsa!! Haha!
And here's me with my st pat's day outfit with my lips sealed as I pose with the secret of Kells!!
Then we decided because it was 10:30am (all the pubs onlny started serving alcohol from 10:30am!) it was time for a beer!

We just wanted a photo with our cool hats!
Then we found ourselves a good spot to watch the parade! Obviously not as crazy as these people who sat on the top of this building!!
The sea of green as people gather to watch the St Pat's day parade!!
Us :)
And the parade begins with the Simpsons! Apparently they premiered a special episode of the Simpsons the night before which was all about St Pat's Day so they were the stars of the parade!
And here is the rest of the parade- some of it was a little odd and arty and some of it we didnt really understand but we're positive it meant something to the Irish people!!

A wahing machine?!! See told you it was strange!
Byron catching me unaware enjoying the strangeness of the parade!
That concluded the weird and wonderful st pattys day parade! After that we thought we'd do a bit of a pub crawl around Dublin so we checked out about 4 or 5 pubs...

After that we thought we'd do a bit of a pub crawl around Dublin so we checked out about 4 or 5 pubs...One of the favourites being The Temple Bar at Temple Bar! Here's our drinks... I just cant stand the taste of Guiness (which was what every other person in Dublin was drinking on St Patty's Day- shame on me!) so i stuck with my cider!
Old Byza dear is starting to look a wee bit tired!!
Me and my cider!
Lots of laughter :)
Us again :)
And again!
Byza being all touristy outside the Temple Bar!
One of the other pubs we went to was this one- cant remember what its called but they had a band playing Irish music and they played Galway girl and I LOVED IT!!!! (The song made famous sung by Gerry in P.S. I love you!!)
Then we thought we'd go for a bit more of a wander around Dublin and Byron had a photo with this dude... ummm.. cant remember his name!
The giant toothpick!!!
Then we went and had some din dins and then headed back to the bus station to get the bus back to London! On the way back we were on the ferry again for 4 hours and had the yummiest chips and gravy!!! Mmmmmmm!!!! We both slept most of the way home and arrived back in London at around 8am. We had some breaky (at maccas!! naughty naughty!!) then headed home where i slept for an hour, got up, had a shower and headed to work and made it by 12pm!!

The atmosphere was fantastic and I am so glad I got to experience a st pattys day in Ireland- something I will never forget!!
We will go back again though probably when Matty is here because Byron wants to see more of Dublin and of course visit the Guiness factory! And Matty will want to see Ireland as well! So we'll just grab some cheap £5 flights and head back there for a weekend again soon!!
The next trip will be to Turkey- head to Gallipoli for Anzac day which will be AMAZING!!!!!!
