San Fermin Opening Ceremony!!!

Today we were up REALLY early at 6am, we dressed in our traditional whites, had breakfast and headed into town for the Opening Ceremony. This is our tour group all ready to go! (Yep there is a charmer there flashing his bum!) Shorey is on the end right im about 4 people from the right! Today would have to be the most crazy, insane, moshpit I have EVER been involved in... you'll see!!!!Here's me and Shorey all nice and white and ready for the crazyness!!! We didn't stay white for long! We werent allowed to bring our cameras, mobile phones etc, and they advised us not to wear any jewellery or anything we didnt want destroyed! So we bought a dispoable camera and were lucky enough to get some photos that worked!!!! We were stoked!1 town: Pamplona;
2 colours: white and red
4 days and a whole lot of carnage!

We got some all important sangria and made our way into the square in front of the town hall, ready for the opening ceremony. From there, it was just madness! It was like a giant food fight, but with liquids… there was sangria, wine, champagne, coke and any thing else you can think of (including sauce - eww) being thrown around and splattered upon everyone and more and more people were joining the square until you could hardly breathe! Here's Brayden, Adam, Mel and Becs, filling up the traditional sangria bags full of sangria!!
And the crazy times begin!!!!This is the town square, where is all happens...
Sangria in the eyes for poor Adam! I was soooo glad that i wore sunnies!!!!This fat little Spanish man was hilarious!!!A Spanish guy just came straight up to Mel and started kissing her, luckily I got a photo of it!! Hahahaha!!Shorey and me drenched in sangria!!!Love this photo- Brayden, Adam and Mel- once people ran out of sangria, coke, champagne, anything liquid, there was whipped cream and flour and all sorts being thrown around!!
Right on mid-day, everyone holds their scarves up above their heads while the mayor bangs the large gong on the balcony of the town hall - The San Fermin festival has official started! And it also means we can now put our red scarves around our necks! As soon as this was over, there was a mass exit from the square and we almost got completely run over! You didn’t need to put much effort in to moving, as the crowd was already doing that for you! However, in all the hustle and bustle, Shorey and I lost most of the people on our tour, and proceeded to spend the next two hours looking for two people wearing white clothes with a red scarf amongst thousands of others who looked exactly the same!Then it was back to the campsite for a chilled out afternoon, drinking more sangria and preparing for another early morning the next day for the first bull run!!!
Here's Nicole and Shorey....And Tim and Nick....That night there was another party at the campsite, i didnt take any photos that night cause my batteries were dead!! I had to wait to get into town the next day to buy new ones, booooo hisssssssssssss!!!
