BBQ time, South African style!!

So last night i attended my first Braai- a South African BBQ!!! Jax friend Cherine (who she works with) had it at her place! We had a verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry long tube ride to get there but with Jack and Adam there with us on the way for entertainment it didnt quite seem so long! We ended up getting there around 3pm!

A Braai is a grand social event (but still casual and laid-back) where family and friends get together on a picnic spot or someone's home (normally the garden or verandah) with their own meat, salad, or side dish in hand. Meats are the star of the braai. They typically include boerewors, sosaties, kebabs, marinated chicken, pork and lamb chops, steaks and sausages.

The other main part of the meal is pap ("crumb porridge"), traditionally eaten with the meat. This dish is a staple of local African communities and is eaten with a tomato and onion sauce. And we had alllllllllllllllllll of that, very yummy!!

After a few drinkys and a chat it was time for cooking the meat which was done by Adam (Cherine's partner) and his mate Pete, pictured here!

This is called a Boerewors which is a South African Sausage. I wasnt much a fan!!

We all know that im not a fan of cats but his little kitten Ozzie, was really cute and cuddley!!

After we had stuffed ourselves silly with all the yummy food, it started to rain!! So we came inside for a Guitar Hero session!!! Here's Jack, Cherine, Adam and Jack!

I stayed at Jax and Adz place again and we all had a big big sleep in- i woke up to a text message from Kerrie telling me that...........

POWER WON THE SHOWDOWN!!! YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

What a great way to wake up!!! The three of us had a really lazy day and watched some movies. And i baked some chocolate brownies!!!!! YUMMO!!! Adz cooked us an AMAZING curry for dinner, one of the best i swear i have EVER had!! Delicious!!
What a weekend!! Cant wait to see what the next week has in store for me!!!!
